Windows 8 Previewed at D9

At the D9 conference today, Windows and Windows Live President Steven Sinofsky joined Walt Mossberg on stage to discuss more about the future of Windows. And Steven brought Corporate Vice President of Windows Program Management, Julie Larson-Green with him to show a demo of the next generation of Windows – internally codenamed “Windows 8” – in action! Earlier this year at CES, we announced that the next version of Windows will run on System-on-Chip (SoC) architectures. Today, we revealed more about how every level of Windows architecture is being reimagined, specifically details around how we are thinking about the user interface. Instead of me talking through the highlights of the demo Julie shared on stage – this article on Microsoft News Center by Julie which explains in a bit more detail about what a new user interface means for customers as well as developers and includes a video of the new user interface!

If you’re a developer you can sign-up for our developer event called BUILD: Windows in September where we will have more to share as there is much more to the platform that what is being shown and talked about today.

I am extremely excited about the innovation we have coming and hope this preview excites you as well!
