Head of technology at Nokia is MIA

Head of technology at global phone maker Nokia has gone on leave, the Associated Press reported Thursday. Richard Green, chief of technology, is taking time off to attend to a personal matter, the AP said.

Nokia is Microsoft's most important partner to selling more Windows Phones, and the chief executive is Stephen Elop, former president of Microsoft's Business division. Elop has said he expects Nokia to have its first phone running Microsoft's mobile software ready for the market in the fourth quarter. (As an aside, here is a Q and A with the new president Kurt DelBene that we posted Thursday.)

Nokia said in the AP report that it would not affect the launch of new products.
