Spotify has made an interesting announcement - it is planning on streaming its first ever live gig.

The event will take place on 5 April, and will be a live broadcast of a Nissan sponsored gig at London's Koko, headlined by Elly Jackson from La Roux performing a DJ set.?

There will also be performances on the night from Delphic, The Naked And Famous and Pony Pony Run Run and Jackson will also be playing Helly from Ben Daniels, who was selected as the winner of recent Nissan Juke Behind The Hit competition.

Ben Langmaid of La Roux said: “We’ve loved working with Ben Daniels and think his track will get a great reaction from the crowd on the night.”

Jonathan Foster, general manager Europe of Spotify, said: “Giving our users access to great live music in their own home is the next step in the Spotify experience. We hope to see many more in the near future!”

It's a big step from Spotify, and no doubt with the festival season quickly approaching music fans will be waiting in anticipation to see what other gigs they can line up.

Spotify will probably be treating the Nissan gig as a dress rehearsal - we'd fully expect the digital music giant to throw the Premium banner around any future events.
