Long night ahead in the iPad 2 queue

Familiar faces queuing already

With the Apple iPad 2 launch in the UK only a day away, the queue has already started at the Californian company’s flagship store on Regent Street.

When Pocket-lint dropped by to scope out the iQueue at the Apple Store, three people were already in place.

Heading the queue is Jewles Lewis, who works in finance, and isn’t a novice at this game. In fact, he was in fourth place when queuing for the original iPad launch last year, and yes, we spoke to him then as well.?

Jewles secured his place at the head of the queue, arriving at 7:30am on Thursday and now faces a wait until 5pm on Friday before he gets his hands on his shiny new iPad.

To keep him company he has, you guessed it, the original iPad he bought last year. When asked what he was going to do with the old iPad, Jewles told Pocket-lint that he would “keep it for the family”. We suspect many others will be doing the same come Friday evening.

“I haven’t touched it yet, but I believe it is faster, quicker, thinner”, Jewles offered-up as reasons for wanting Apple’s “magical” tablet, before telling us he’d be getting exactly the same model as he has now: 32GB, Wi-Fi + 3G.

So there you have it: it seems that Apple fever is strong on the streets of London, again.
