Last week the IE team trekked from Redmond, WA to Portland, OR to attend one of the highlight developer conferences of the year: JSConf. The conference is dedicated to anything and everything JavaScript and we had an opportunity to present a session on Chakra, the new JavaScript engine introduced in IE9. In addition to talking to developers about Chakra, getting them excited about throwing their hat into the ring with a Dev Unplugged entry and plotting an awesome way to give away an Xbox, we had a rich environment to talk to developers directly and get their feedback on IE9 and their perspective on what they want to be able to do on the web.
Capturing the excitement and energy at an event like this is hard, but below are some photos over the course of the 2 days:
Microsoft Team dinner at the Brix Tavern with Gaurav Seth, Matt Podwysocki, Harry Pierson, Paul Betts, Rey Bango, and myself.

JSConf was held in the Portland Art Museum, which gave a classic touch to some very futuristic content and ideas.
And the Xbox Goes to?
Dave Geddes, a self-described ?front-end ninja?! Dave outwitted, outplayed and outlasted all the of the challengers in the Xbox Kinect Call of Duty: Black Ops tournament and even defeated the formidable Pete Higgins (of Dojo fame). Congrats, Dave!
Thanks Again, Looking Forward to JSConf 2012!
The number of amazing people and companies you meet at events like JSConf cannot be measured by stickers on a laptop. But we tried anyway. Thanks again to the organizers, the speakers and all of the attendees for making the trip down to Portland worth more than the price of admission. Getting direct feedback on IE9 (and IE10!) is incredibly valuable and it?s exciting to see people and companies adopting modern technologies like HTML5 and helping us all move the web forward.
