There were reports doing the rounds at the end of last week that Nvidia boss Jen-Hsun Huang wasn't happy with the Android tablet sales figures, with the CEO stating that the lack of take-up was down to a "sales problem", an "expertise at retail problem", a "marketing problem" and a "price point problem".

But that doesn't mean that Huang has lost hope with the platform. Far from it - he sees Android tablets beating the competition from Cupertino within 3 years.

"The Android phone took only two and a half years to achieve the momentum that we're talking about. I would expect the same thing on Honeycomb tablets," Huang told Reuters.

Huang pointed out that Android's growth could come down to the advance in chipsets, such as his company's next-gen mobile set up, the quad-core processor codenamed Kal-El.

The Nvidia boss said that there are already "at least 10" devices with "five major phone companies and we have five major PC (manufacturers)" in the pipeline for the platform, which was first revealed at MWC.

During the demo, Nvidia showed it off by running a prototype device boasting 1440p video playback running on a 2560x1600 panel.

Big numbers indeed, and the sort of wow factor that Android tablets will need going forward if it is to knock the iPad off of its perch.
