WPC11: Microsoft's Worldwide Partners Conference begins Monday in LA

bob muglia wpc 2010.jpgMicrosoft's Worldwide Partners Conference begins Monday at 9 a.m. in Los Angeles with a speech by Steve Ballmer at Staples Center.

We are not covering it on location this year as we have in the past, but I will be watching and writing about the keynote speeches that will be broadcast online.

Microsoft execs lineup for WPC speeches

On Tuesday, division President Satya Nadella will talk about the Server and Tools Business, which makes cloud products. Kurt DelBene, president of Microsoft's Business division, will talk about Office and the new cloud version called Office 365. Andy Lees, president of the Windows Phone division, is also scheduled to speak.

On Wednesday, Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner and U.K. business mogul Richard Branson will give a speech. (In 2010, former President Bill Clinton spoke on the third day.) Turner usually delivers a rally speech bashing competitors Google, Apple and others. Here are the highlights from Turner's 2010 WPC speech in Washington, D.C.

Who WPC is for

Microsoft organizes the conference for partner companies that build on, resell and offer services based on Microsoft products. At the past two WPCs, Microsoft has used the conference to lay out the timeline for Microsoft products and to persuade partner companies to start selling Microsoft's cloud services, such as a cloud-maintained version of Windows called Windows Intune, its cloud platform Azure and Office 365.

This is also the first conference run by Jon Roskill, who became corporate vice president for partners at Microsoft last year. Roskill has been tweeting @jon_roskill. Faint news flash: Roskill now has a beard.

Stay tuned to Microsoft Pri0 for more coverage this week.
