ThinkPad Tablet coming in June
Remember Lenovo's first crack at the Android tablet market - the LePad? Of course you don't - nobody does. But that doesn't matter as the Chinese manufacturer has a new Android slate offering up its sleeve, this time packing a proper tab OS - Honeycomb.
The leaked slides which reveal the device confusingly label it both the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet and the Lenovo Think Slate (we prefer the former), so it's unclear exactly what it will? actually be called. But what we do know is it be compatible with a dedicated keyboard dock, a la the Asus Eee Pad Transformer.
The confusion doesn't end with the moniker though, the slides label it as Android Market compatible, but also state it is au fait with "Word, Excel, PowerPoint....and more". It's not clear if the slides mean via a third party office suite - or whether there might be a Windows flavoured ThinkPad too.
Other details include a 10.1-inch IPS screen (1280x800), power via an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, front and rear cameras, USB, mini-USB, mini-HDMI (with 1080p support), an SD card slot, and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G connectivity.
It'll come in 16, 32, and 64GB sizes and will have HTC Flyer-like true pen option for "sketching and note-taking".
Samples are due to do the rounds starting in June, with the device costing from $499 when it hits the shops.
