MWC 2011: Yet another Android 2.3 device

Is Froyo dead? Quite possibly - the Arc, Optimus 2X and Galaxy S II put in the big blows, and now even the more budget-friendly manufacturers are queuing up to stick the boot in - the latest being ZTE with the announcement at MWC of the Gingerbread baking ZTE Skate.

The Skate (name inspired by a skateboard, of course) not only packs Android 2.3, it also boasts a large 4.3-inch screen, a 5-megapixel camera, A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a G-sensor.

The CPU is just 800MHz, so it's not going to trouble the next-gen chip touting Android devices, but it has got an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit.

It's due out in May 2011, and will be available worldwide.

ZTE also used MWC to showcase its LTE Advanced (LTE-A) prototype, which is the first LTE-A CoMP (Coordinated Multipoint Transmission) prototype in the world.
