CES 2011: Awesome looking concept machine goes on show
The Razer Switchblade could be the future of mobile PC gaming - if it ever makes it out of the concept arena and in to the big bad real-world.
It is a Windows 7 machine, complete with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity that packs Mini-HDMI, USB 3.0, standard headphone and mic ports. Nothing exceptional there - but where it comes into its own is the dynamic tactile keyboard that lets you add the control-scheme of any game visually, right at your fingertips.
"The keyboard intelligently recognises the game's specific interface and transposes the interactive visual elements such as command icons and control schemes right to the mechanical keys. Depending on the situation in-game, the keyboard can also change on-the-fly to give you only the controls you need."
Two years in the making the codenamed Switchblade is the work of an engineering team made up of key lead engineers from the likes of Apple, HP and Dell.
It looks simply awesome, we have to say. We only hope though that Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan is joking with his "intensity" in the video. Otherwise, we fear he could be a future real-life Bond villain.
